Yeah, I know I was threatening to write in this blog regularly, but… that hasn’t happened, has it? No… No, it hasn’t. Let’s face it, I’m kept busy enough with the whole rest of the site– it’s the rare occasion when I get around to this section.

I’ll tell ya what, why don’t you just go to the more active areas of the site instead?

So now that I’ve got this old blog up ‘n’ running again, I was looking through the old links, came upon “A Family In Baghdad” blog. I linked to that way back when we were still fresh in the war. As the name implies, the blog is written from the perspective of a middle-aged, middle-class mother of college-aged kids– Faiza Al-Arji. The local premiere was not well promoted at all. I only found out about it on the morning of the day that it occurred. I just figured that I was too uncool and out of the loop to get any advance info, but no… apparently most people only heard about it that day. Then there was some confusion about the location, while the film is airing to the general public on Fri the 20th at the Century, the premiere happened at Piper’s Alley. Of course, we wrongly went to the Century, only to find out it was at Piper’s Alley. So, we missed about the first half hour of it…

We finally got to the right theater and found good seats in spite of our lateness… because it was not very crowded at all. I would be very surprised if there were even a handful of people there who had ever even experienced the era directly. That was disappointing. Regarding the movie, we came in during a clip of Black Flag. I have to say that it was AWESOME to see a lot of that old footage. It was freaking, flying AWESOME. Man, we had a lot of energy back then… wow, wow, wow. It was GREAT to see that footage! I was especially thrilled to see two clips of AoF. You all know how I loved AoF… Especially cool was that I have still pictures of them from one of those clips. I just checked the Gallery, I don’t have those in there, I’ll have to scan them and put ‘em in.
