I LOVED THIS BOOK, circa 1978. I loved everything about it. I loved what it had to say, I loved the pictures, I loved the paste-up style of design. I would love to post some of the photos from this book, especially the very creative homemade outfits on some of these kids, but I don't want to infringe on the author's copyrights. Remember back when we made our own punk clothes? Remember how when we used to wear them out, no one knew they were punk clothes because punk was virtually unknown and unheard of? Remember how other people used to stop dead to stare at us? It was shocking... and disgraceful. It was new. Publishing company-- Urizen Book, Inc. Authors, Isabelle Anscombe and Dike Blair. |

Some quotes from book: |
"Punk is... Punk is an attitude. An attitude of threat. It is a threatening look which says that the status quo is something that can be changed." |
"It is kids doing for themselves, no longer content to be given." |
"The distance between bands and their audiences widened and rock 'n' roll became an empty sign for the image that once had the power to provoke." |
"They felt that they possessed a new gospel of individualism. They were aggressive and arrogant. They raised their voices and revelled in the threat that they held to stuffiness and stability." |
